I've been a weather nerd ever since I started working on my own, not in a 9-5 job. Up here winters can be long, summers can feel short, and I decided that if I can control my time then I can take advantage of bad weather to do indoor things like work, and good weather to do outdoor things like not work. I've lived around the weather, adn the seasons here, ever since.

Originally I just had the Environment Canada page for my city burning an image into a CRT monitor, nicely refreshed by them every half-hour. Cool! Then one day they decided to stop the auto-refresh so I had to build my own way to do it, for a while scraping their site and extracting what I wanted, but after chasing that too much I put that page into a frame and added links for local to national to global to solar weather. A simple meta-refresh updates my local weather every 30 minutes. There's a subtle help link that explains the signficance of each link I use in my amateur forecasting.

It doesn't display well embedded in this page so       Go see the weather here now.

It's a simple set of 3 HTML files that can be used without a web server, which is how I use it regularly. I put it on the web so I can use it when mobile, and for a few friends. It's best for western Canada, but the files can be modified easily if you can edit HTML text. Ask Me for a copy.

In 1982 XTC released Blame the Weather [YouTube] (#2) [YouTube] as the B-side of a 7" single which always appealed to me.
